Decisions are made every day, multiple times a day, sometimes multiple decisions are made simultaneously. You make decisions for the here and now and you make decisions for your future. You make decisions that impact mostly just you and you make decisions that impact other people. As you get older you get to make more and more decisions which seems like a great feeling and idea at first, but as you grow older it decidedly gets more polarizing. Some decisions are super awesome and easy to make like how hard you're going to celebrate after that A you got on your final in the spring semester, others are like choosing between a giant douche and a turd sandwich (South Park reference, look it up). Some outcomes that you want require making decisions to do things that are tough. This is one that you'll more frequently see as you get older.
The counter balance to that is that you get to make fun decisions like where to go on vacation, whether or not you need that next beer (depending on the day you probably do), whether or not you should take that job, where to live, to get married (or not), to have kids (or not), what to name them, and so on. Keep in mind that some things that should be or are usually considered 'decisions' happen unexpectedly and they feel more like knee jerk reactions than decisions, so in order to thrive and maintain some sanity, you're going to have to learn to roll with what comes your way.
As your mom, here's my unsolicited advice: when you're a teenager, make decisions that will provide you the most fun and the best ability to learn and have a fun/stable/good job when you're done with college. Decide to work as hard as you play and never throw that out of balance. When you're an adult and starting a family, make decisions that benefit your family. Those usually are pretty easy but every now and then a tough one comes along that requires you to bite your tongue or swallow your pride or put down the can of gasoline and lighter. Hopefully if your father and I do our jobs well enough these decisions won't be as difficult to make. But in the event that you do arrive at one of these decisions to make, choose to protect your family because that's what good men do, and my goal for you is to help raise you to be a good man.
Your father and I's decision to have a second baby (PS you're going to have a little sister named Liliana in October) was to finalize the members in our family so we could all have the same starting point for the most part and do this crazy journey together. It's not an easy task to have two such young babies but the decision was made for the outcome that we wanted and what we thought would be the best thing for our family. It can be and is a lot of pressure, and maybe (probably) you'll see us disagreeing or hear us sharing words with each other that we wouldn't knowingly share in front of you if we knew you were in earshot. Other times we're so pissed we cant help it. Sorry about that. But I assure you that we do love each other and fighting between two people usually at least means they care enough about each other to persevere and duke it out for what they think is best. But please remember that no matter what, every decision that I (we) make, is done in the best interests of our family, and everyone in it.
I'm so glad you don't understand most English just yet, Sam. Its been a weird weird weekend. I love you though, more than anything in this entire world.
